3. EndoChoice prices $96m IPO at low end of range
EndoChoice priced its initial public offering at $15 per share, the low end of the range, raising $95.2 million for its Fuse full-spectrum endoscope.
EndoChoice shares are due to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the “GI” symbol today, the company said. Read more
2. St. Jude, Boston Scientific tout European advances for SCS systems
St. Jude Medical and Boston Scientific are touting new developments in Europe for their spinal cord stimulation systems.
St. Paul, Minn.-based St. Jude said it won CE Mark approval in the European Union for its Inivisible Trial app-based wireless neuromodulation system, the company said. The system leverages Apple iOS devices, specifically an iPod touch for the patient and an iPad mini for the treating physician. Read more
1. ‘Medjack:’ Hackers threaten hospitals using medical devices as back doors
Malicious hackers used unprotected medical devices to break into hospital IT systems in at least 3 instances discovered by a cybersecurity firm, as medical data becomes a holy grail for organized crime “medjacks.”
A trio of case studies by San Mateo, Calif.-based TrapX Security revealed that hackers can use medical devices linked to hospitals’ IT systems to break in and steal data. Read more
