Cantel Medical pays $80m for UK ‘scope storage maker Medical Innovations

Cantel Medical said today it acquired U.K.-based endoscope storage and transport manufacturer Medical Innovations Group Holdings Limited for $79.5 million.

Medical Innovations manufactures the CleanaScope short-term scope transport system and SureStore long-term endoscope storage system, Cantel Medical said.

“Ensuring the safe transport, storage and separation of reprocessed and contaminated endoscopes throughout the healthcare setting is a key component of leading infection prevention and control protocols. The addition of Medical Innovations to the Medivators endoscopy portfolio provides us with a market leading endoscope storage and transport system, and the ability to leverage existing sales channels, particularly in the U.S. and other direct markets, to further accelerate growth,” Cantel Medical’s Medivators endoscopy prez David Hemink said in a press release.

Medical Innovations also produces single-use endoscopy consumables, mobile cart systems and patient transport systems. Cantel Medical said the acquisition would enhance the company’s endoscopy product portfolio

We are excited that the owners of Medical Innovations, David Mason and Paul Stoner, will remain in leadership roles in the combined business to continue driving the ongoing success of our expanded Endoscopy platform,” Cantel Medical prez Jorgen Hansen said in prepared remarks.

In June, Cantel Medical said it tapped ex-Boston Scientific senior veep David Hemink for president of its medivators division and will promote ex-Boston Scientific Michael Spicer to prez of Americas sales and global service division.
