Teleflex picks up Nostix catheter placement

TeleflexTeleflex (NYSE:TFX) said today that it acquired Nostix, which makes catheter tip placement location systems, for an undisclosed amount.

Boulder, Colo.-based Nostix’s ECG-only device is designed to be an alternative to X-ray confirmation of peripherally inserted central catheters, Wayne, Pa.-based Teleflex said.

“Adding the Nostix product line provides our customers with the ability to implement catheter tip placement solutions that meet their specific therapeutic and budget needs,” chairman, president & CEO Benson Smith said in prepared remarks. “The ECG-only product and the range of navigation technologies that are under development will complement our Arrow VPS G4 system by diversifying and strengthening our PICC tip confirmation and navigation portfolio and enhance our ability to meet customer needs globally. Strategically, the addition of this technology will support Teleflex’s future expansion into tip confirmation for central venous catheters, chronic hemodialysis catheters and ports. We also gain access to an innovative product development pipeline, which includes integrated ultrasound capabilities that will extend our ability to offer differentiated catheter tip positioning solutions well into the future.”
