SunTech to use Masimo tech in new vital signs device

SunTech Medical said today it will work with Masimo (NSDQ:MASI) to integrate its SET pulse oximetry tech into SunTech’s CT40 next-gen spot-check vital signs device.

Masimo’s SET technology is designed to monitor oxygen saturation, pulse rate and perfusion index, and the company touts that it has been shown to reduce false alarms and accurately monitor for true alarms.

“Both SunTech and Masimo share industry-leading technologies within our respective areas of expertise. Partnering with them on our next-generation vital signs platform is a very natural strategy. Masimo SET pulse oximetry is the benchmark for clinical performance, just as SunTech Advantage technology is for blood pressure. We look forward to a long and successful partnership,” SunTech strategic product dev veep Kenny Andersen said in a press release.

SunTech’s CT40 is designed as a clinical-grade spot-check device for measuring blood pressure, temperature and pulse oximetry in hospitals and clinics. The device includes advanced features, including the ability to transmit measurement data directly from the device and integrated BP averaging mode.

The CT 40 has CE Mark approval in the European Union, but has not been cleared by the FDA for use within the U.S.
