Fonar acquires MRI providers in New York and Florida

FonarFonar Corp (NSDQ:FONR) said today it picked up 3 new MRI providers in New York and Florida through the Health Management Company of America, of which it is the majority owner.

The Melville, N.Y.-based company acquired Turnkey Services of New York, Yonkers Diagnostic Management Services and Florida’s TK2 Equipment Management LLC.

“We are very pleased to have concluded these acquisitions, as they will contribute significantly to the growth and financial stability of the company,” CEO Timothy Damadian said in a press release.

Turnkey Services of New York provides HMCA-managed MRI facilities in the Bronx and Brookly, N.Y., awhile TK2 Equipment Management operated HMCA managed MRI facilities in Queens, N.Y. and Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

The company said it expects the acquisition to increase its net income by approximately $1 million per year.

In February, Fonar said it named Timothy Damadian, son of magnetic resonance scanning inventor and company founder Dr. Raymond Damadian, as its new president and CEO.

The younger Damadian worked with Fonar for 16 years, eventually becoming veep of operations. He formed Fonar subsidiary Health Management Corporation of America, which manages medial and diagnostic imaging offices. HMCA generated approximately $40 million in revenue, Fonar said.
