Engility wins $112m FDA contract for scientific computing

Engility HoldingsEngility Holdings said today it won a 5-year, $112 million indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with the FDA’s Scientific Computing Board and Office of Information Management and Technology.

Through the contract, Chantilly, Va.-based Engility will supply computational science and bioinformatics services to the FDA, looking to support gene-based drug discovery and development.

“With this award, Engility expands on our long-standing partnership with the FDA to further develop their high performance computing and complex data analysis capabilities. We look forward to supporting the FDA’s mission to make groundbreaking treatments, such as genetics-based medicine, available to all Americans,” Engility CEO Lynn Dugle said in prepared remarks.

Engility will provide security, operations and maintenance and technical support for the FDA’s scientific computing environments and systems, to aid the agency in building computing architectures to “accommodate analyses of complex data sets.”

The company said the services are “critical” to answer the FDA’s front-line needs, and will provide “better insights through faster, better-informed regulatory decisions and secure collaboration among FDA scientists and the worldwide scientific community.”

Engility said the award doubles its previous $50 million scientific computing IDIQ deal.
