Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) today said it launched CareAdvantage, a system designed to aid healthcare systems and services shift to value-based programs and operations.
The New Brunswick, N.J.-based company touted the service as a “holistic, data-driven approach, grounded in insights” which aims to help companies shift to alternative payment models tied to quality or value. The company said it will be available immediately in the US, with a phased global rollout in the future.
“As health care continues to change, health systems and their suppliers must work in close alignment to find ways to meet the opportunities and challenges of value-based care. CareAdvantage begins by listening to and understanding individual health system needs, leading to a customized plan of action to help deliver value at every point along the care pathway,” J&J medical device companies chief strategic customer officer Tim Schmid said in prepared remarks.
The newly launched service looks to aid healthcare companies using data-driven analysis and insights, as well as on-site assessments and focused action plans, to increase operational efficiency based on goal-specific targeted metrics.
The CareAdvantage program will focus on care pathways, consumer and patient insight and engagement and operational efficiency, the company said.
Johnson & Johnson also announced the Orthopaedic Episode of Care Approach program as part of its CareAdvantage launch, a specific program focused on value-based care models in the orthopaedic field.
The Orthopaedic Episode of Care system will operate alongside CareAdvantage, and includes a shared performance agreement option which looks to reduce average episodic hip and knee implant patient costs.
“Reducing costs, enhancing patient outcomes and increasing patient satisfaction are core to our focus on helping health systems committed to delivering value-based care across a variety of therapeutic settings. In orthopaedics, where episode of care models are changing how reimbursement is aligned to performance, delivering on the Triple Aim is particularly important. Our Orthopaedic Episode of Care Approach builds on our breadth of experience in hip and knee replacements and hip fracture episodes of care, to help hospitals and surgeons realize better clinical and economic outcomes in these orthopaedic procedures. Providers now have an invested partner to help manage episodic costs and drive better, more predictable outcomes for patients,” Schmid said in a press release.
The Orthopadic program will includge digital care navigation, the Patient Athlete program designed go help patients prepare and recover from orthopaedic surgery, episode perfromance improvement, infection risk management and hip fracture care programs.
The company’s shared performance agreement option will include application of digital care navigation and its Patient Athlete program, and will cover a portion of target savings if they are not achieved.
“As the market adopts more and more alternate payment models like orthopaedic bundled payment programs, improving patient outcomes while driving costs down is vital to maintaining Willis-Knighton’s status as one of the country’s leading health systems. Willis-Knighton is pleased to partner with the Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices Companies. We have realized value in many arenas because they understand our unique needs and help in implementing tailored solutions that seek to put the patient first and improve efficiencies across an entire episode of care,” Willis-Knighton Health Systems physical medicine director Chris Mangin said in a prepared statement.
