Align Technology announces Nobel Biocare implant software integration

Align TechnologyAlign Technology (NSDQ:ALGN) said today it expanded workflow options for its iTero intraoral scanner, now expanded to include digital workflow for Nobel Biocare implants.

Customers using San Jose, Calif.-based company’s iTero system can now order Nobel Biocare implant cases through detnal labs, which in turn can order NobelProcera single-unit restorations for their doctors.

“Integrating the digital workflow of our market leading iTero scanners with Nobel Biocare implants and Elos Medtech scan bodies is a natural fit and enables all parties involved to deliver restorative solutions to the dental community at the highest standard possible. Align is delighted to work with Nobel Biocare and Elos Medtech to offer dental practices, surgical specialists, and laboratories advanced digital workflows that enhance their patient care and improve clinical outcomes. We will continue our ongoing collaboration to further expand workflow options for customers in the future,” chief medical officer Raphael Pascaud said in a press release.

Last week, Align said that the US Patent and Trademark Office confirmed 3 patents that had been challenged by competitor and regular legal rival ClearCorrect.

The confirmed patents were related to transparent dental aligners, San Jose, Calif.-based Align Tech said, and include 2 which the company is asserting in its patent infringement suit against ClearCorrect.

ClearCorrect responded to the confirmation of the patents by filing 2 more rexamination requests regarding one of the patents that was just confirmed, according to a press release published by Align.
