Boston Scientific’s Connected Patient contest finalists focus on data

Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) today announced the 6 finalists in its 2nd annual Connected Patient Challenge competition, which challenges groups to use big data to create actionable intelligence to increase patient care and healthcare efficiency.

The challenge, created in collaboration with physician interactive platform Medstro and supported by Google (NSDQ:GOOG), had 46 contestants worldwide with concepts. Entries covered categories including patient data management and security, medication adherence, home healthcare, clinical trial support, addiction recover, and others, the company said.

“We were truly encouraged by the level of engagement by emerging developers and healthcare practitioners in this year’s Connected Patient Challenge. We look forward to hearing more from the finalists at the upcoming event, and continuing to be part of a collaborative effort to improve healthcare delivery,” Medstro COO Jim Ryan said in a prepared statement.

Finalists include electrocardiogram-analyzing dev Heartbeats, care-management developer Medumo, breathing rate and diagnostic dev MouthLab, Medication management and adherence devs Pillo, data validation and EHR def StopCKD and asthma management group Tueo Health.

The finalists will present their ideas to judges on March 9 with 2 winners chosen, splitting $50,000 of in-kind services to aid in development of their programs.
