C.R. Bard (NYSE:BCR) and several subsidiaries of Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) unit Covidien settled more than 130 product liability lawsuits brought over pelvic mesh products.
The lawsuits were part of multi-district litigation being overseen in the U.S. District Court for Southern West Virginia. last week and yesterday Judge Joseph Goodwin dismissed 134 of the cases with prejudice “because all claims have been compromised and settled, including all claims, counterclaims, cross-claims and third party claims,” according to court documents.
The dismissals cover 104 lawsuits filed against Bard alone and another 30 suits lodged against Bard and the Covidien entities that made the mesh used in the devices, according to the documents.
Goodwin in April 2016 dismissed nearly 150 mesh lawsuits brought against Bard.
