1. InspireMD inks distribution deals in Greece, Caribbean
InspireMD announced in a March 1 press release that it has signed exclusive distribution agreements with T-Vascular IKE Medical Supplies in Greece and Endo-Serv, SRL in the Caribbean. Both suppliers create high-tech medical devices for minimally-invasive procedures. Endo-Serv markets to the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Aruba, Curacao and Trinidad and Tobago.
2. iCad wins CE Mark for new digital breast tomosynthesis software
iCad has received CE Mark approval for its new digital breast tomosynthesis software PowerLook Tomo Detection 2.0, according to a March 1 press release. The software is the company’s second deep-learning-based computer-aided detection software that helps radiologists manage and interpret digital breast tomosynthesis data. PowerLook Tomo Detection 2.0 is able to be used with Hologic, GE and Siemens systems. The algorithms int he system are designed to detect malignancies and determine the probability of cases having malignant findings.
3. FDA clears Meridian PM oral appliance for sleep apnea and snoring
Meridian PM announced in a Feb. 27 press release that its oral appliance for treating obstructive sleep apnea and snoring has been cleared by the FDA. The Meridian PM oral appliance device holds the lower jaw in a more comfortable condition than what normally happens with obstructive sleep apnea. It treats snoring, obstructive sleep apnea and breathing symptoms by stabilizing the lower jaw while training the tongue to remain forward to keep the upper airway clear while sleeping. As a result, the number of apneic and hypopnea occurrences through the night are reduced, as well as their duration. The appliance also allows for oxygen exchange during sleep.
4. Biolase inks MOU to distribute S-Ray’s ClearView Scan oral ultrasound imaging
Biolase has signed a non-binding Memorandum of understanding with S-Ray to exclusively market and sell S-Ray’s patented ClearView SCAN system, according to a Feb. 27 press release. The ClearView SCAN system is an ultrasound-based intraoral imaging system used ion the dental market. It is radiation-free and is designed to be used for soft-tissue anatomy that radiographs typically fail to detect. The Memorandum of Understanding will cover the multi-year terms of the distribution and service arrangement for the ClearView SCAN system.
5. FDA clears Getinge’s PulsioFlex patient monitor
Getinge announced in a Feb. 23 press release that it has received FDA 510(k) clearance for its PulsioFlex Monitoring System and PiCCO Module. The PulsioFlex Monitoring system is used to measure and monitor blood pressure and cardiopulmonary, circulatory and organ function in patients who are in ICUs. The PiCCO Module gives cardiac output measurements continuously based on pulse contour analysis and transpulmonary thermodilution for critically ill patients.
6. Hologic and Dexalytic ink deal
Hologic recently signed an agreement with the University of Minnesota to exclusively provide the Dexalytics: TEAMS in North America, according to a Feb. 22 press release. The partnership allows for body composition data from X-ray absorptiometry scans to be compared to sport- and position-specific standards to give actionable information to medical staff. The system shows the exact location of bone, lean and fat masses as well as a visual comparison of changes in those masses over time. It also runs on cloud-based software.
7. Kelyniam inks distribution deal with mystery partner
Kelyniam announced in a Feb. 22 press release that it has signed a multi-year distribution agreement with a medical device distributor in the neuroscience market. The deal covers Kelyniam’s line of custom cranial implants and certain medical devices that will be co-developed by the two companies in the future.
