The best places to work for medtech sales reps

ConMed, Teleflex and Medtronic top the list of best places to work in medical device sales in the coming year, according to a MedReps.com survey of medical sales representatives.

MedReps surveyed 800 medical sales professionals to get a better understanding of what employees look for in employers and how satisfied they were with their jobs.

About 81% of the respondents are currently employed, and 64% thought their current employers should win. Survey participants who did not vote for their employers and those who are not currently employed were asked to vote based on where they would most like to work. Participants were able to vote for any medical sales company or choose from a list of global and Fortune 500 companies, companies nominated by MedReps or previous best places to work winners.

The top reasons respondents voted include positive company culture (35%), strong products (25%) and opportunities for growth (18%). Only 9% of survey respondents said they thought a company should win due to competitive compensation.

MedRep also asked respondents what the most important characteristics of good corporate leadership were. About 56% reported that honesty and trustworthiness were important, and 33% said passion and committment were important. Transparency (32%) and accountability (20%) were also reported as the most important characteristics of good corporate leadership.

Medical sales professionals reported that a solid product line (41% was the most important quality of an employer. Another 33% of respondents said focus on innovation and research and development were important qualities of an employer.

Approximately 80% of medical sales representatives reported being very or somewhat satisfied with their current jobs, which is a 4% rise from what was reported last year. Only 34% said they were very or somewhat likely to leave their job within a year.
