Medtronic wins VA telehealth supply contract

Medtronic logoMedtronic (NYSE:MDT) said today its Medtronic Care Management Services won a contract from the US Department of Veterans Affairs to provide home telehealth technologies.

The contract will position Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic’s CMS to provide veterans with telehealth technology platforms including connected diagnostic devices, clinical workflow software and related telehealth solutions for 1 year, with 4 optional 1-year periods exercisable by the VA.

“After a rigorous review of potential suppliers, we are honored the Department of Veterans Affairs selected Medtronic Care Management Services as one of four vendors to provide home telehealth technology to its veteran patients. While we are pleased to continue our working relationship with the VA, we are even more excited by the opportunity to continue providing veterans with healthcare solutions enabling greater flexibility in the monitoring and management of their health,” MCMS GM Sheri Dodd said in a press release.

MCMS will provide daily health checks to veterans with data collected aggregated and assembled for review by VA care coordinators to aid in early interventions and condition monitoring.

Last week, QT Vascular said it inked a definitive agreement with Medtronic to distribute QT’s Chocolate PTA catheter for 5-years.

The deal between Singapore-based QT Vascular and Medtronic will be automatically renewable for 2 additional 1-year periods, and both companies will continue to negotiate other aspects of their relationship.
