Boston Scientific renews lease on Valencia neuromod facility, looks to add jobs

Boston Scientific

Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX) this week signed a 10-year extension on the lease for its Valencia, Calif.-based facility, home to its neuromodulation group, according to a new report.

The Marlborough, Mass.-based company will continue to operate its neuromod devision out of the 342,000 square foot facility in southern California, and may look to add jobs at the facility, according to a San Fernando Valley Business Journal report.

Another report released this week from the Boston Business Journal shows that the company’s U.S. headcount has remained constant over the past year, despite the company being a long time vocal opponent of the medical device tax and arguing that the tax would kill jobs in the industry.

In its recent annual filing, Boston Scientific said it ended the year with 27,000 employees and that 14,000 of them are based outside of the U.S. That figure is up from a year earlier, when the company reported a global headcount of 25,000 with 12,000 of them out of the country.

A spokesperson reportedly clarified that the company added “several hundred” U.S. employees in 2016 but that the increase wasn’t reflected in the filing.
