Canon’s Toshiba Medical launches imaging equipment preventive maintenance program

Toshiba Medical SystemsCanon‘s (NYSE:CAJ) Toshiba Medical subsidiary said today it is launching the PM Only Service Agreement preventive maintenance program designed to maintain imaging equipment for healthcare providers.

The new service from Toshiba Medical is designed to enable providers to fulfill and document that they are complaint with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Directive and The Joint Commission guidelines that imaging equipment meets manufacturer’s specifications, the company said.

Toshiba Medical said its PM Only service will provide ongoing preventive maintenacne and service for imaging equipment, as per manufacturer guidelines so that providers can stay compliant and avoid penalizations.

“We listened to our customers’ needs and in response created a simple solution to verify that healthcare providers are being compliant with this directive. The PM Only Service Agreement also benefits providers by reducing unnecessary system downtime and ensuring equipment is operating safely and effectively,” Toshiba America Medical service business unit VP Tim Peeler said in a press release.

Early last month, Toshiba Medical won a 5-year $827.6 million fixed-price, indefinite delivery and quantity contract with the US Department of Defense.

The contract positions Toshiba Medical to provide radiology systems, accessories and training to the DoD, including the Air Force, Navy, Army, Marine Corps and federal civilian agency.

Toshiba Medical won out over 27 different applicants for the contracts according to a DoD release.
