Cook Medical said last week it promoted Umesh Patel to president of regenerative medicine and tissue-repair product developer Cook Biotech.

Patel joined Cook Biotech as an ops manager in 1995, moving to VP of development and engineering in 2000.

“I’m looking forward to leading the incredibly talented team at Cook Biotech. We will push the frontiers of advanced biomaterials and regenerative medicine in the Cook tradition of providing medical solutions for patients worldwide. I’m confident that with Umesh’s leadership Cook Biotech will continue to thrive in the coming years,” Cook Medical and Cook Group prez Pete Yonkman said in a press release.

Philips announces slew of changes to exec suite

Early last month, Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG) announced a number of changes to its executive roster, tapping Jeroen Tas as its chief innovation and strategy officer, Carla Kriwet as connected care & health informatics chief business leader and Ronald de Jong as global head of human resources.

Tas will replace Jean Botti, who left the company, while Kriwet will take the position left by Tas and de Jong will succeed Denise Taylor, Philips said.

“In 2016, Philips made significant progress with its strategic transformation to a focused leader in health technology and we have good momentum. Looking ahead, there is an opportunity for us to accelerate Philips’ transition to a customer-centric solutions company, and further leverage advanced informatics, artificial intelligence and the internet of things into our health propositions and our way of working. I am convinced that with the new responsibilities of Jeroen, Carla and Ronald within Philips’ executive committee, we will be able to accelerate on our journey. We are thankful for Denise’s significant contribution to shape the HR function at Philips over the last few years and we would like to wish her every success in her next endeavors. We would also like to wish Jean success for the future,” CEO Frans van Houten said in a press release.
