7 medtech stories we missed this week: Aug. 25, 2017

From InspireMD’s Swiss distribution deal to CoreLink’s stackable guide wire launch, here are seven medtech stories we missed this week but thought were still worth a mention.

1. InspireMD announces Swiss distribution deal

InspireMD announced in an Aug. 25 press release that it has signed an agreement with 1a Medical to distribute the CGuard EPS (Embolic Prevention System). The new distributor is one of the leading medical distributors in Switzerland and plans to help launch the CGuard there.

2. EarlySense and SleepMed partnered for sleep apnea

EarlySense and SleepMed are have forged a partnership to give consumers find a solution that helps identify sleep disorders like sleep apnea that could affect their health, according to an Aug. 24 press release. EarlySense has created the EarlySense Live contact-free health and sleep monitor that is able to share accurate data with users regarding their vital signs during sleep, as well as sleep cycles. SleepMed offers sleep medicine services. Together, the EarlySense Live app will direct users to a SleepMed questionnaire that will help them learn more about their sleep disorder and be able to have a risk assessment for more details about their sleep disorder.

3. Medovex touts pain study

Medovex announced the results of its post procedure update on one of its DenerveX System in an Aug. 23 press release. The study reported that the patient had 70% pain reduction 30 days after their procedure. The company plans to expand the study to include 30, 60 and 90-day results. The DenerveX System received CE Mark approval and clearance for commercialization in Europe earlier this year. It is a system that is designed for Facet Joint Syndrome treatment, also known as spinal osteoarthritis.

4. TechCare receives CE Mark for lice treatment device

TechCare announced in an Aug. 22 press release that its Novokid live treatment option has received CE Mark approval as a Class I medical device. Novokid is an at home device that helps eliminate lice, super lice and eggs. It is a vapor-based delivery system that is 100% natural, plant-based and pesticide-free. The company also suggests that Novokid could be used as a maintenance and preventative treatment if it is used regularly.

5. Prollenium wins FDA nod for dermal filler

Prollenium has received FDA approval for its cross-linked hyaluronic acid dermal filler, according to an Aug. 17 press release. The products are designed to smooth out lines and wrinkles, restore or add volume, shape and contour facial features and hydrate the skin. The gels from the fillers integrate naturally into tissues and still allow for a passage way for vital nutrients like oxygen and hormones.

6. Life Spine touts first in-situ expansion procedures

Life Spine announced in an Aug. 22 press release that it has performed its first cases using multiple methods of in-situ expansion. ProLift Expandable PLIF/TLIF Spacer System and TiBOW Expandable TLIF Spacer System are some of Life Spine’s micro invasive expandable technologies that are surface treatments for osteophylic surface architecture and potential bone-on-growth.

7. CoreLink launches stackable Scaltoff guidewire for Entasis SI fusion device

CoreLink has released its Scaltoff Wire for its Entasis Sacroiliac Joint Fusion System, according to an Aug. 22 press release. The wire is a patent pending, stackable guide wire that can be adjusted to a needed size and allows for constant control during drilling, tapping and insertion steps. It can also be shortened quickly to accommodate the C-arm in lateral view x-rays. The wires are made of stainless steel and thread onto and off of each other and end-to-end for adjustable lengths.
