Siemens (NYSE:SI) Healthineers said last Friday it won FDA clearance for the latest version of its Somatom Force flagship dual source computed tomography system.
The newly cleared system features the company’s FAST integrated workflow and FAST 3D camera, which it claims is the first patient positioning system powered by artificial intelligence. The scanner also includes automated scan preparation and customized patient dosage capabilities, Siemens said.
Siemens said that the Somatom Force also offers iterative metal artifact reduction technologies to reduce artifacts from metal implants, joints and pacemakers during scanning. The system also features an improved image reconstruction system, and is designed to reconstruct up to 70 images per second, according to a press release.
The approval follows an earlier win for the company, which announced earlier this month it won FDA clearance for its Somatom Edge plus computed tomography machine.
