3. Biosense Webster launches cardiac mapping system
Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Biosense Webster said last Thursday that it launched the Carto 3 system Confidense 3D cardiac mapping module for use during catheter ablation procedures.
The module uses a proprietary algorithm to speed up the process of multi-electrode cardiac mapping, the company said, streamlining a validation process that previously had to be done manually. Read more
2. Glaukos raises the stakes in $99m IPO
Glaukos today raised the proposed price range on its pending initial public offering, saying it will offer 6 million shares at $16 to $17 apiece, which at the midpoint would fetch $99.0 million.
In May, Laguna Hills, Calif.-based Glaukos initially said the offering could gross as much as $86.2 million. Earlier this month the company said it planned to float nearly 5.4 million shares at $13 to $15 apiece, for a midpoint of $75.0 million. Read more
1. Senate eyes the fast track for medical device tax repeal bill
The U.S. Senate yesterday moved to put a bill that would repeal the medical device tax on the fast track , according to The Hill.
Majority leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) started the process last night by invoking Rule 14 for the bill, which passed the House on a 280-140 vote last week. Forty-six House Democrats voted to approve H.R. 160, the “Protect Medical Innovation Act of 2015,” sponsored by Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-Minn.). Read more
