Medical technology company Halyard Health (NYSE:HYH) and Belintra, a healthcare logistics provider, will pursue a co-marketing partnership focused on improving the sterility of wrap products before they head into an operating room.
The deal involves Georgia-based Haylard’s sterilization wrap products and Belintra’s storage and transport logistics flow system for wrapped surgical instrument trays.
Belintra’s Sterisystem Logistics Flow Solution product was given particular mention, with features that avoid stacking of surgical instruments and improve organization of sterile instruments. There are also FDA-approved instrument trays that reduce wet packs, and FDA-approved baskets and shelves that cut down on touchpoints for sterilized packages.
Neither side is disclosing financial terms.
The deal comes down to convenience in terms of marketing complementary products with a goal of keeping surgical tools sterile. In short, Halyard Health customers can purchase product transport systems through Belgium-based Belintra.
Alex Hodges, general manager of surgical and infection prevention for Haylard Health, said the deal will provide its customers with “customizable” products that help reduce contamination of surgical instruments and maintain sterility from when instruments are sterilized to their delivery at an operating room.
Belintra CEO Geert Schepens said in prepared remarks that she is pleased with the Haylard Health deal.
