4. Hologic inks marketing deal with Bovie Medical for J-Plasma surgical tool

Bovie Medical said today it inked a sales channel partnership deal with Hologic, adding Bovie’s J-Plasma product line to its portfolio.

The deal, which goes into effect immediately, will add J-Plasma to Hologic’s gynecological and gynecological/oncological surgery portfolio in 3 U.S. regions, Bovie Medical said. Read more


3. Johnson & Johnson gets in on 3D printing with Materialise deal for titanium skull & face implants

Johnson & Johnson said this week that it inked a deal with 3D printing shop Materialise for titanium craniofacial implants customized to individual patients’ anatomies.

Leuven, Belgium-based Materialise will print the Trumatch line of implants for J&J’s DePuy Synthes business, for treating patients with disorders of the face and skull. The companies have worked together on craniofacial technology for 6 years, Johnson & Johnson said. Read more


2. Medtronic recalls pacing leads on design standards snafu

Medtronic last month recalled 1 of its temporary pacing leads due to a design standards snafu.

In a June 16 letter to customers who bought the leads, Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic said its Model 6416 temporary transvenous pacing leads are not compliant with standards set by the FDA and the International Electrotechnical Commission. Read more


1. FDA approves Vasorum’s Celt ACD vascular closure device

MassDevice.com news

Vasorum said today that it won pre-market approval from the FDA for its Celt ACD vascular closure device.

The Dublin-based company said the Celt ACD is designed to close punctures to the femoral artery after catheterization, using a biocompatible implant on both the inside and outside of the arterial wall. Read more
