5. CareFusion expands Alaris warning
The U.K.’s Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency issued an 2nd warning for CareFusion’s Alaris drug pump after the company discovered that the Alaris pumps with broken springs in the plunger assembly could accidentally release a single dose of medication. Read more
4. LivaNova initiates recall of FlexTherm heater cooler devices
LivaNova this week released a field safety notice it sent to customers with its FlexTherm heater cooler device informing them it is voluntarily removing all such devices installed at customer sites over design issues. Read more
3. Medrobotics confirms $20m funding round
Medrobotics, which developed the Flex robot-assisted surgery platform, today confirmed a $20 million funding round 1st reported by MassDevice.com last month. Read more
2. Medtronic’s Q3 numbers top estimates
Medtronic today beat the consensus forecast with its fiscal 3rd-quarter results, despite a -25% profit slide. The Fridley, Minn.-based medical device giant posted profits of $821 million, or 59¢ per share, on sales of $7.28 billion for the 3 months ended Jan. 27. That’s a -25.0% bottom-line slide on sales growth of 5.0%, compared with Q3 2016. Read more
