Bose joins $3m Series A for HF monitor dev Signature Medical

Signature Medical

Signature Medical said today it closed a $2.5 million Series A funding round which was joined by audio tech giant Bose Corporation to support its AcoustiCare wearable heart failure monitor.

Also joining the round was Riot Ventures, and Allied Minds, of which Signature Medical is a portfolio company of.

“We are excited about Signature Medical’s innovative use of audio to help heart patients with their recovery, and we’re pleased to support Signature Medical in their efforts,” Bose Ventures’ Steve Romine said in a prepared release.

“Signature Medical’s incorporation of artificial intelligence and acoustic technology into a wearable device should help heart failure patients globally and have enormous impact,” Riot Ventures founder Stephen Marcus said in a prepared statement.

The AcoustiCare is a wearable device designed to evaluate and monitor possible heart failure to prevent hospital readmissions and improve patient outcomes, Boston-based Signature Medical said.

The company said that the device differs from other sensor-based wearables as it uses cloud-based audio technology and artificial intelligence for monitoring and evaluating heart failure and other indications, where other sensors address rhythm, movement or impedance.

“Engaging the support and contribution of Riot and Bose in this important opportunity is simply wonderful. We are eager to markedly improve heart failure patient outcomes while saving the system substantial expense with our proprietary wearable technology,” Signature Medical CEO & founder Dr.
Omar Amirana said in a press release.
