GN Hearing inks deal with Google, launches Beltone Amaze

GN Hearing (CPH:GN) this week announced it inked a partnership with Google (NSDQ:GOOG) to enable its hearing aid devices to directly stream audio from Android devices, and said it launched its Beltone Amaze hearing solution.

With the Google deal, users will be able to connect and monitor their hearing aids on Android devices as well as stream audio, without the need for an intermediate device. The service will initially be available on the company’s ReSound LiNX Quattro and Beltone Amaze devices.

“According to the World Health Organization, around 466 million people worldwide have disabling hearing loss. This number is expected to increase to 900 million people by the year 2050. Google is working with GN Hearing to create a new open specification for hearing aid streaming support on future versions of Android devices,” Google engineering VP Seang Chau said in a prepared release.

GN Hearing touted that it will be the first hearing aid manufacturer using Android’s new hearing aid specifications.

This is another example of how GN Hearing relentlessly strives to drive innovation forward by developing new products and solutions with unique benefits for hearing aid users and audiologists around the world,” GN Hearing CEO Anders Hedegaard said in a press release.

GN Hearing also announced the launch of its Beltone Amaze hearing aid featuring a new processor chip platform for improved sound quality, connectivity and battery life.

The newly launched Beltone Amaze features 100% faster processing, 100% more memory and a 35% increase in frequency bandwith and 20% reduced power consumption as compared to previous generation devices.
