Stryker (NYSE:SYK) said today its Stryker Performance Solutions business unit is now offering a new Episode Performance Manager tool designed to CMS data into actionable data for hospitals.
The newly released Stryker Performance Solutions tool is designed to translate raw claims data provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services into dynamic reports to highlight cost-drivers, opportunities for improvement and to compare performance between hospitals, the company said.
“Success in the evolving alternative payment landscape hinges on the ability to not only understand Medicare claims data, but also to derive value from that data, by using it to inform and implement improvement strategies for the joint episode of care. Now that providers are held accountable for the cost of care throughout the entire episode, analytics must also provide increased visibility into post-discharge patterns and effectiveness,” reconstructive division GM Stuart Simpson said in a press release.
Partnered hospitals will have access to the Episode Performance Manager beginning on July 25, Stryker said.
Earlier this month, Stryker said it’s launching a new fixation anchor for extremity repair surgeries, SonicAnchor, that’s designed to be liquefied by sonic energy and flow into cancellous bone.
Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Stryker said the SonicAnchor device’s tip is made of a bioresorbable polylactide polymer that’s ready for stable fixation 5 seconds after application.
Stryker said it’s planning to debut the device in Toronto at the annual meeting of the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society July 20-23.
