Former St. Jude Medical (NYSE:STJ) HR executive Angie Craig is looking to take a seat in Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional district for Democrats this year in a closely watched race.
Craig is facing off against libertarian talk-show host Jason Lewis (R) for the seat held by Rep. John Kline (R), who’s retiring after 14 years on Capitol Hill.
She spent 10 years at St. Jude before stepping down in January 2015 to pursue the Congressional seat. Craig joined the Little Canada, Minn.-based company in 2005 as vice president of corporate relations, where her role expanded in 2010 to include human resources. In 2012, she was lifted to senior vice president of global human resources.
During her tenure at St. Jude, Craig launched at “Women in Business” program looking to bring more women into leadership positions, according to her campaign website. Before her time at St. Jude, Craig spent 10 years with Smith & Nephew in various positions, including corporate affairs, communications, public relations and government affairs.
Craig has served on the boards of LifeScience Alley and the Twin Cities American Heart Assn., according to SunThisweek.
