5. Neuravi wins CE Mark for EmboTrap II stent retriever
Neuravi said today it won CE Mark approval in the European Union for its EmboTrap II stent retriever and revascularization device.
The device is a next-gen version of the company’s EmboTrap, and is designed to treat a broader range of clots with sizes that are deliverable through a 0.021″ microcatheter. Read more
4. 410 Medical Innovations raises $2m for LifeFlow rapid infuser
410 Medical Innovations said in a regulatory filing today that it raised a funding round worth $2.2 million.
Durham, N.C.-based 410 Medical developed the LifeFlow rapid infuser for critically ill patients needing urgent fluid delivery. The device is designed to allow front-line healthcare providers to deliver 1 liter of crystalloid fluid through a 20-gauge IV catheter in 5 minutes. Read more
3. Boston Scientific puts $25m into venous stent maker Veniti
Veniti said today that Boston Scientific put up $25 million for its Series D round, which it plans to use to back a clinical trial of its Vici venous stent.
Veniti’s 200-patient, 60-month Virtus trial, run under an investigational device exemption from the FDA, is a single-arm safety & efficacy study with a main safety endpoint of major adverse events within 30 days and an efficacy endpoint of primary patency rate, according to ClinicalTrials.gov. Final data collection is slated for May 2017. Read more
2. Legal eagles: St. Jude Medical faces uphill battle in lawsuit against short-seller
Legal experts say a defamation lawsuit filed by St. Jude Medical against a short seller faces an uphill battle.
Little Canada, Minn.-based St. Jude yesterday sued short-selling firm Muddy Waters Consulting and the hacking shop behind a report of alleged cybersecurity vulnerabilities that’s pushed STJ shares down more than 3% since late last month. Read more
1. Vivasure lands $18m Series C
Ireland-based Vivasure Medical said today it raised $18.3 million (EU €16.2 million) in a Series C round of financing, with funding slated to support the European commercialization of its PerQseal technology platform.
The Series C round was led by Life Sciences Partners of The Netherlands, invested from its LSP Health Economics Fund, and was co-led by Evonik Venture Capital and Panakes Partners. The round was also joined by returning Series A and B investors led by Ireland’s Fountain Healthcare Partners. Read more
