Medtronic said it launched the GastriSail, a new device designed to improve consistency and efficiency during sleeve gastrectomy procedures, in the U.S.

Medical Informatics Corp. said it won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its Sickbay clinical platform and patient monitor, patient alarm data and alarm data analytics dashboard applications.

1. Report: Smith & Nephew to shutter UK plant
Smith & Nephew reportedly plans to shutter a plant in York, U.K., by the end of next year, relocating 80 workers there.
The British healthcare giant is building a new U.K. commercial hub near London, according to the York Press. Workers at the York facility will be moved to other Smith & Nephew operations, including the new London hub, another location in Hull, U.K., or in the U.S., the newspaper reported. Read more
