Proven Process said today that it’s partnering with PathMaker Neurosystems, a clinical-stage neuromodulation company, to develop and manufacture a device for treating patients with muscle tone disorders using trans-spinal direct current stimulation.
Trans-spinal direct current stimulation is a novel form of non-invasive neurostim, Mansfield, Mass.-based Proven Process said. The spinal stimulation uses a direct current to stimulate spinal circuits using skin surface electrodes, the company added.
Proven process said it plans to refine the design of Pathmaker’s prototype, as well as manage the manufacturing of the device for clinical trials, regulatory submission and commercial distribution.
PathMaker is currently developing products based on tsDCS, with its first product focusing on patients with muscle tone disorders, Proven Process said.
“We are delighted to be working with Proven Process as we commercialize the first clinical products based on tsDCS. Proven Process’ expertise and reputation with device engineering and manufacture will facilitate our efforts as we move forward with our development plans for our tsDCS-based products,” PathMaker CEO Dr. Nader Yaghoubi said in a press release.
