The U.S. Congress is reportedly on the cusp of agreeing on a 2-year freeze of the medical device tax and another tax enacted as part of Obamacare.
The freeze is part of a 10-year, $500 billion tax package that would pause the 2.3% levy on U.S. sales of prescribed medical devices, as well as the so-called “Cadillac tax”on high-benefit health insurance plans, according to The Hill.
Votes in the U.S. House of Representatives could come as soon as tomorrow, the website reported.
Legislators were said last week to be close to agreeing on the terms of the tax package, including the delays for the medical device tax and the Cadillac tax, although some Democrats fear that rolling back any provisions of the Affordable Care Act could be the thin end of the wedge that splits it open for an outright repeal.
