Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG) said today it launched its IntelliSpace Console Critical Care cloud-based clinical decision support dashboard designed to support enhanced workflows intensive care units. The product will be released at the 2016 HIMSS annual conference in Las Vegas.
The newly-released dashboard is designed to allow clinicians to access patient data across multiple systems and EMRs with aims of helping streamline processes by prioritizing and analyzing patient data.
“As health systems continue to move toward value-based care while at the same time facing an explosion of patient data, solutions such as IntelliSpace Console help clinicians make sense of increasingly complex patient information in a meaningful way. This advanced visualization dashboard enables clinicians to make quick, informed decisions, and ultimately provide enhanced care across the health care continuum,” Philips patient care and monitoring solutions CEO Carla Kriwet said in a press release.
The IntelliSpace Console was designed based on a multi-year clinical study and collaboration between Philips, Ambient Clinical Analytics and the Mayo Clinic, Philips said. The system is rendered using evidence-based guidelines to provide clinicians with an overview of their ICU patient population including acuity level, life support details and other key information.
“The amount of patient data available in the Intensive Care Units is incredible, but it also places a substantial burden on the acting clinician to make quick and effective patient care decisions while making sense of mountains of information. This new solution is formatted as a real-time dashboard that organizes information the way a clinician processes data in a real-life patient scenario to facilitate decision making. This reduces stress, saves time, supports workflow and enhances the care process while allowing multiple members of a patient’s care team to be ‘on the same page’,” co-inventor Dr. Vitaly Herasevich of the Mayo Clinic said in prepared remarks.
Last month, Philips it won FDA 510(k) clearance for its Expression MR400 monitor designed for patients undergoing magnetic resonance imaging. The MR400 is designed to provide ICU-comparable bedside monitoring for all patients, including those with serious medical conditions or those who require anesthesia, in the MR Suite.
Due to the strong electromagnetic fields in the MR suite, it is not possible to use traditional patient monitors without complications or degradation of images, according to Philips. The lack of appropriate monitoring can put patients at risk as clinicians may not be able to identify if a patient is in distress.
