Philips launches patient monitoring suite in US, imaging devices in India

Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG) said this month it launched its next-generation patient monitoring solutions in the US, as well as releasing a slew of imaging devices into the Indian market.

The Amsterdam-based company said it released an enterprise-wide system of bedside, transport, mobile and central station monitoring technology in the US, including the IntelliVue X3 transport monitor.

Philips IntelliVue X3 is an FDA 510(k) cleared, portable, dual-purpose monitor with smartphone style operation which the company claims removes the need to change patient cables during transport or at bedside. The system also includes the Alarm Advisor, designed to track how clinicians respond to alarms to reduce issues with alarm fatigue, Philips said.

“The healthcare industry is making strides to address clinician pain points, but issues such as lack of complete patient data and exhaustive alarm fatigue still remain. While challenges persist, there is an opportunity to improve and address the barriers that clinicians are currently facing with technology. We are aiming to provide clinicians with smarter alarms and seamless solutions to lower the chances of preventable adverse events, while helping them to improve patient care,” Philips monitoring & analytics biz lead Felix Baader said in a prepared statement.

Today, Philips India launched imaging solutions in India including its Access CT 32 Slice, Prodiva 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance imaging system and the Dura Diagnost F30 digital X-ray system, according to a new report.

“Philips has always been focussing on the emerging workflow and diagnostic needs of radiologists in India, by developing meaningful innovations in imaging. The new offerings in MRI, CT and digital X-ray are developed to help radiologists diagnose faster, more accurately with added benefit of lower ownership costs and better patient experience. I am sure that these solutions will effectively meet the expectations of the radiologists and imaging departments,” Philips healthcare India prez Rohit Sathe said, according to Pharmabiz.com.

Earlier this month, Philips was reported to be planning a move for its North American headquarters and its nearly 2,000 employees to Cambridge, Mass. in 2020.
