Private equity shops form medical device portfolio management company

KKR, Aisling CapitalPrivate equity giants KKR and Aisling Capital said today that they’re launching a company to manage their portfolio of medical device companies called Ajax Health, tapping Spirox chairman & CEO Duke Rohlen to lead it.

Rohlen is the former president of FoxHollow Technologies and the founder & former chief executive of CV Ingenuity.

“There is a significant need in the medical device space not only for capital but also for operational expertise and guidance,” Rohlen said in prepared remarks. “With Ajax Health, we are eager to provide the resources necessary to enable companies to provide innovative medical treatments for the millions of people who need them.”

“KKR is excited to partner with Duke Rohlen – a proven executive in the medical device industry. He has a fantastic track record of identifying and growing companies through his strategic thinking and the recruitment of strong management talent,” added KKR member Jim Momtazee.
