Siemens Healthineers closes Medicalis buyout

Siemens Healthineers, MedicalisSiemens Healthineers said today that it closed its acquisition of workflow management provider Medicalis for an undisclosed amount.

The healthcare arm of German industrial giant Siemens (NYSE:SI) said it plans to integrate Medicalis into its population health management business. Based in San Francisco and Kitchener, Ontario, Medicalis offers clinical decision support, imaging workflow management and referral management.

“This acquisition allows us to extend the Siemens Healthineers strategy for value-based healthcare, by helping to optimize both utilization and departmental clinical workflow. In this way, we intend to support best practice care pathways and the reduction of unwarranted variation for high-impact conditions,” digital services population health management head Robert Taylor said in prepared remarks. “Thus, by driving value through in-vivo and in-vitro diagnostics, we continue as a trusted partner to enable healthcare providers worldwide to improve medical outcomes and reduce costs.”

Siemens Healthineers said the new Medicalis services are available immediately.
