3. Abbott ticks up on Q3 beat, despite slumping device sales
Abbott shares ticked up after the company reported a 3rd-quarter sales beat fueled by stronger demand from emerging markets for its generic drugs business, but sales dropped more than -7% for its medical device business compared with Q3 2015.
Abbott posted profits of $580 million, or 38¢ per share, on sales of $5.15 billion for the 3 months ended Sept. 30, for a bottom-line gain of 7.8% on sales growth of 1.4%. Read more

Baxter said that it named Boston Scientific CEO Mike Mahoney to its board of directors.

1. Medtronic beats NuVasive patent infringement suit
Medtronic won a patent infringement lawsuit brought by NuVasive Inc. after a federal judge in California ruled that NuVasive failed to prove its claims about the surgical dilator patent.
San Diego-based NuVasive sued Medtronic in August 2012 in the U.S. District Court for Southern California, alleging that the 16mm NIM-Eclipse direct lateral dilator made by Medtronic subsidiary Warsaw infringes its ‘922 patent. Read more
