Maquet Medical inks distro deal with ReFlow

ReFlow medical, Maquet Medical

Maquet Medical said today it entered an exclusive U.S. distribution agreement with ReFlow Medical to distribute its full line of catheters including the Wingman Crossing catheters and speX shapeable support catheters.

Maquet said it will begin distribution of the catheters in the 1st quarter of 2016.

“We’ve partnered with ReFlow Medical on this distribution agreement as their innovative catheters greatly enhance our current offerings to the physicians that we serve every day. We look forward to working with ReFlow Medical to better address the unmet needs and clinical challenges that interventionalists and their teams face in treating their patients with peripheral blockages,” said in a press release.

The Wingman crossing catheter has an extendable bevel tip to be used in conjunction with steerable guidewires for use in the peripheral vasculature, and the speX shapeable cath is designed with a shapeable tip that retains its shape and can be reshaped if needed for specific patient needs.

“We are very excited to partner with Maquet and form an alliance with such a renowned and well-respected medical device company. We look forward to working with Maquet’s extensive sales and marketing team to drive market adoption of this unique and highly differentiated product line. We share Maquet’s goals of improving patient outcomes and reducing hospital costs with highly innovative novel medical device technologies, and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship,” CEO Isa Rizk said in prepared remarks.

In October, fresh on the heels of CE Mark approval in Europe, ReFlow Medical announced FDA clearance for its Wingman35 crossing catheter and said it has already been used in California vascular clinics.

The Wingman35 is indicated for use in conjunction with steerable guidewires to access discrete regions of the peripheral vasculature and enable rapid, routine, off-the-shelf lesion crossing.

The device, which consists of a support catheter with a concealed, beveled guide-tip and activating handle, is designed to cross tough lesions inside blood vessels by extending a bevel tip, according to an FDA filing. San Clemente, Calif.-based ReFlow last month won CE Mark approval in the European Union for the Wingman35 and for its Spex device.
