Boston Scientific sells Boston area warehouse to FedEx

Boston ScientificBoston Scientific has sold 1 of its 2 North Quincy warehouses to FedEx, but will rent it from the shipping company through next year.

The Marlborough, Mass.-based company said that despite having 2 warehouses, it only used the now-sold 400,000 sq foot warehouse, leaving its other 600,000 sq ft warehouse under utilized, according to The Patriot Ledger.

Boston Scientific has plans to renovate the remaining warehouse and move into it by the end of 2017, when FedEx will take over the other warehouse to use as a ground distribution center.

“It makes much better use of the site, and it will generate jobs and bring 2 great companies to the same place,” Boston Scientific spokesman Thomas Keppeler told The Patriot Ledger.

Boston’s conservation commission approved the renovation plan at Boston Scientific’s remaining warehouse in December.

Keppler said the move may allow the company to add staff.
