AI startup MedyMatch lures ex-Philips imaging CEO Saragnese

MedyMatch

Newly launched artificial intelligence healthcare startup MedyMatch Technology said today it snagged ex-Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG) Imaging Systems division CEO Gene Saragnese as its new chief exec and board chair.

The Israel-based startup said it is developing a decision support platform that uses deep vision, cognitive analytics and AI that pairs with standard emergency room imaging platforms to aid operating physicians in recognizing difficult to see and obscure conditions.

“I am thrilled to be joining the company in this capacity and at this time in its history. MedyMatch’s unique ability to deliver better clinical care at lower cost is exceptionally positioned in the industry, and our technology, artificial intelligence based image classification, will provide physicians with the deep contextual patient insights they need to make the right assessment in challenging acute care settings, when every minute is critical,” Saragnese said in a press release.

Before managing Philips Healthcare’s Imaging Systems division, Saragnese headed up GE Healthcare‘s (NYSE:GE) CT, molecular imaging and image processing divisions. Prior to that, Saragnese operated as GE Healthcare’s CTO and MRI biz GM, MedyMatch said.

The startup said that along with its launch, it opened its 1st U.S. office in Boston, hoping the presence will help the company expand its presence in North America and provide support for its clinical trial partners and machine and deep learning collaborations.
