5. Titan Medical extends Asia Pacific exclusive distro negotiation, initiates usability studies
Titan Medical said today it inked a 3-month extension on negotiations with Longtai Medical to distribute its Sport surgical robot in the Asia Pacific region and it initiated usability studies for its Sport system to comply with newly published FDA guidance.
The company said it extended the negotiation of exclusive rights for distribution in the Asia Pacific region until August 19 this year. Titan originally inked the dea with Longtai, which included a private placement deal of more than $24 million, last November. Read more
4. Biotronik launches CardioMessenger Smart in U.S.
Biotronik said today it launched the CardioMessenger Smart portable cardiac pacing device monitor in the U.S.
The CardioMessenger Smart is a portable device designed to allow pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators and insertable cardiac monitors to stay connected remotely to their monitoring physicians. Read more
3. Senseonics inks exclusive Eversense CGM EU distro deal with Roche
Senseonics said today it inked an exclusive distribution agreement with Roche for the multi-country commercialization of the Eversense continuous glucose monitor.
Under the deal, Roche has the exclusive rights to promote, market and sell the Eversense product portfolio to diabetes clinics and patients in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, Senseonics said. Read more
2. Diabetes experts: Bariatric surgery should be the standard of care
Diabetes experts from a consortium of medical societies and organizations say bariatric surgery should be a standard treatment for patients with the condition, as it offers potential control of diabetes for years without medication.
In a joint statement, the 45-member group said bariatric surgery could have a significant benefit for thousands of patients, calling the move 1 of the biggest shifts in diabetes guidelines since the advent of insulin in 1921. Read more
1. Medtronic, Qualcomm ink collaborative diabetes treatment deal
Medtronic said today that it inked a collaborative deal with Qualcomm subsidiary Qualcomm Life to develop next-gen continuous glucose monitoring systems.
The companies will initially focus on single-use CGM system designed for physicians who manage type 2 diabetes patients, Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic said. Read more
