5. ALung submits FDA IDE app for HemoLung device
ALung Technologies said today it submitted an investigational device exemption application to the FDA as it seeks to begin a clinical study of its Hemolung Respiratory Assist System.
The Pittsburgh, Penn.-based company is developing the Hemolung device, an extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal system that works by removing carbon dioxide and delivering oxygen directly to a patient’s blood via a small catheter inserted into the jugular or femoral vein. Read more
4. ResMed launches AirMini CPAP, touts as world’s smallest
ResMed today launched its AirMini continuous positive airway pressure device, touting it as the world’s smallest machine of its kind.
The newly launched AirMini weighs 0.66 lbs and is small enough to fit in a patient’s pocket for traveling, the San Diego-based company said. The device also features built-in humidification and the company’s AutoSet functionality. Read more
3. Allergan wins FDA nod for TrueTear tear-inducing neurostim
Allergan said today it won FDA clearance for its TrueTear intranasal tear neurostimulator designed to stimulate tear production, touting it as the 1st of its kind.
The TrueTear device is designed to be inserted into the nasal cavity to induce the production of tears, the company said. Read more
2. Sunshine Heart closes $9m offering
Sunshine Heart said today it closed an underwritten public offering, bringing in approximately $9.2 million in gross proceeds.
The round included the full exercise of the underwriter’s over-allotment option to purchase additional shares, the Eden Prairie, Minn.-based company said. Read more
1. Medtronic touts drug-coated balloon in peripheral artery disease patients
Medtronic touted data today for its In.Pact Admiral drug-coated balloon in 2 sub-analyses of peripheral artery disease patients in the company’s In.Pact Global Study. The data were presented at the 2017 Charing Cross Symposium in London.
Researchers presented 1-year outcomes in patients with complex lesions, as well as outcomes in a subset of patients with complex, calcified lesions. Read more
