Haemonetics (NYSE:HAE) said today it launched the HaemoCloud software platform designed to connect all of Haemonetics devices and software.
The HaemoCloud includes software which allows the company’s blood management devices to connect to hospital IT systems and provides real-time data for service and support, the Braintree, Mass.-based company said.
“As the healthcare industry transitions from analog to digital, Haemonetics is committed to leading innovation in blood management. This strategy embraces the ‘Internet of Things’ to create smart, safe, connected products that will improve the level of care and drive down costs across the entire blood value chain,” Haemonetics COO Kent Davies said in prepared remarks.
The HaemoCloud platform includes the company’s HaemoCommunicator, which is designed to format and transfer data from diagnostic and cell salvage devices to provide lab and IT staff access to the data and device performance, the company said.
“HaemoCommunicator and HaemoCloud were selected as recipients of the 2015 IoT evolution product of the year award because of the transformational aspects for overall health and health incidents when they occur. Understanding the situation at hand and enabling more efficient management of this life-giving resource is critical as blood loses strength over time. With these products Haemonetics is demonstrating how technology can improve our quality of life,” Crossfire Media CEO Carl Ford said in a press release.
Haemonetics said that over time, data collected in the HaemoCloud will allow the company to build preventative maintenance algorithms.
Late last month, Haemonetics reported fiscal 1st quarter earnings that topped analyst expectations while missing revenue marks and reaffirmed its fiscal 2016 guidance, expecting revenue growth of 4-6% and adjusted earnings per share in the range of $1.98 to $2.08.
