3. Exit interview: Stephen Ubl on moving on from AdvaMed

Ubl worked 16 years at the Advanced Medical Technology Assn., spending the last 10 years as president & CEO, raising the medical device industry’s national profile and leading the fight against the medical device tax enacted as part of Obamacare. 2. Jury finds for Boston Scientific in pelvic mesh case

A federal jury in North Carolina last week found for Boston Scientific in a product liability lawsuit filed over its Uphold pelvic mesh.

Plaintiff Martha Carlson’s 2013 lawsuit was consolidated with another case in May. Carlson alleged that her injuries were caused by the Uphold product after its implantation in 2010 in a Charlotte hospital. Read more


1. NovoCure raises $158m in IPO

MassDevice.com news

NovoCure said it raised $158 million from its initial public offering, after the flotation’s underwriters picked up part of an over-allotment option.

NovoCure, which is based in St. Helier, Jersey, an island in the English Channel, makes a tumor-zapping device called Optune. Earlier this month the company won expanded indications from the FDA and a new CE Mark indication in the European Union for Optune. Read more
