Royal Philips (NYSE:PHG) said today it picked up hospital emergency room consultant firm Blue Jay Consulting firm.
The company did not release any terms or financial details of the transaction, but said it is expected to close in the 4th quarter of 2015.
“Our customers are increasingly asking us to help them improve patient engagement and operational efficiencies across their enterprise. The ability to augment our health technology offering with consulting services is therefore a critical element of our integrated solutions. With the acquisition of Blue Jay Consulting, Philips is further executing on its strategy to strengthen its capabilities to enhance the operational and financial performance of hospitals and health systems, while enhancing outcomes for both hospitals and patients alike,” CEO Jeroen Tas said in a press release.
The Orlando, Fl.-based consulting firm will become part of Philips’ Healthcare Informatics, Solutions and Services business, bringing 35 employees with it. The business provides hospitals and health systems consulting, education and design services as well as clinical programs, advanced data analytics and interoperable, cloud-based platforms to implement new models of care, the company said.
Last month, Philips said it opened its 1st HealthSuite Labs co-creation center in Eindhoven, Denmark, aiming to spur digital healthcare development and innovations.
The centers will allow healthcare experts and general practitioners to work together in teams, with patients as well as business experts from multiple fields, to co-create and implement integrated care solutions, according to the company.
The newly created lab co-creation center will run on Philips’ HealthSuite cloud-based digital platform, the company said.
