Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke about his experience being implanted with Boston Scientific‘s (NYSE:BSX) Watchman left atrial appendage closure device, experience with aortic repair, the medical industry and more on stage at the annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics conference in San Franscisco.
Schwarzenegger spoke as the special guest speaker at the event, covering issues from entertainment and government to his experiences being implanted with the left atrial appendage closure device.
Schwarzenegger agreed speak at the event while on the table for the operation to install it, according to Medscape editorial director Tricia Ward.
Aside from serving as the 38th Governor of California, Schwarzenegger has also had his aortic valve replaced to correct for a congenital defect 18 years ago, Ward said today from the event.
Later in his life, Schwarzenegger was treated with Boston Scientific’s Watchman device for an irregular heartbeat, he said at the conference.
Schwarzenegger gave praise to the cardiac and med tech industries, saying “I have the upmost respect for all of you because the work you do is so innovating,” according to Medical Device Daily.
