3. Medical journals propose mandatory data sharing

Editors of some of the most prominent medical journals – including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Assn., the Annals of Interal Medicine and the British Medical Journal – are proposed to require researchers to share the data behind their published studies.

2. Ex-trader loses bid to dismiss insider trading case

Sean Stewart, a former executive with JP Morgan and Perella Weinberg Partners accused of insider trading, lost his bid to have criminal charges dismissed from a federal court in New York.

Federal prosecutors in May 2015 charged Stewart, his father Robert Stewart and a 3rd man with using inside information to trade and cause another to trade in the securities of 5 healthcare companies that were acquired between 2011 and 2014. Read more


1. Globus, Johnson & Johnson’s Synthes bury the hatchet

MassDevice.com news

Globus Medical said that it agreed to settle a quartet of patent infringement lawsuits with Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Synthes.

The lawsuits involve 5 patents covering spinal implant technology. Specific terms of the settlement were not announced, “but were to the parties’ mutual satisfaction,” Globus said. All of the lawsuits were brought in the U.S. District Court for Delaware. Read more
