3. Insightec pulls in $22m, taps board chair Ferré as CEO

Insightec said it secured a $22 million investment and tapped Dr. Maurice Ferré, the former chief at Mako Surgical, as its new CEO, as founder Kobi Vortman steps down for a seat on the board.

The $22 million comes from a current stakeholder as part of a Series D round of financing, the Israeli company said. Read more


2. Sientra soars after independent panel OKs breast implants

Shares of Sientra, which hit a 52-week low last year after regulators shut down production at its sole supplier, soared after new CEO Jeffrey Nugent said independent testing found its breast implants safe for implantation.

Santa Barbara, Calif.-based Sientra tapped Nugent shortly after Brazilian regulator Anvisa suspended production at Silimed, Sientra’s supplier, and the U.K.’s Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency halted sales. Read more


1. Bard to shutter ex-Rochester Medical plants in Minnesota, laying off 185

C.R. Bard reportedly plans to shutter a trio of Bard Medical plants in Minnesota by the end of the year, meaning layoffs for the 185 workers employed there.
