3. An acquisition a day keeps the doctor away: Abbott acquires Kalila Medical
Abbott said that it acquired Kalila Medical and its Vado steerable sheath for an undisclosed amount.
It’s the 2nd buyout in as many days for the Abbott Park, Ill.-based healthcare giant, which yesterday said it plans to pay $5.8 billion for point-of-care diagnostics maker Alere. Read more
2. TE Connectivity picks up Creganna Medical for $895m
TE Connectivity said that it agreed to pick up Irish medical device maker Creganna Medical for $895 million in cash.
Cregganna, which is owned by private equity shop Permira Funds, posted sales of $250 million last year, Schaffhausen, Switzerland-based TE Connectivity said. Read more
1. Seno Medical names ex-Bioventus exec Umbel as CEO
Seno Medical Instruments said it named former Bioventus business development vice president Tom Umbel as CEO.
Umbel replaces president Tom Miller, who’s served as interim chief since the departure of founder Janet Campbell last September to focus on new venture Dominion Medical. His resume includes stints at Hologic, where he spent 15 years, Direct Radiography, Sterling Diagnostic Imaging and DuPont. Read more
