AdvaMed, the national lobby for the medical device industry, is reportedly planning to tap the chief operating officer at BIO, Scott Whitaker, to be its new CEO.
If the report put out today by Politico turns out to be true, Whitaker would replace Steve Ubl, who left last year to take the reins at PhRMA.
Whitaker, the former chief of staff for the Health & Human Services Dept. under President George W. Bush, is expected to be confirmed this afternoon during a conference call among the Advanced Medical Technology Assn.’s directors, the website reported, citing unnamed sources.
AdvaMed and BIO declined to comment for the Politico report.
