Stryker (NYSE:SYK) is reportedly expanding its Stryker Communications operation in Texas as it consolidates other businesses in South Carolina and the Lone Star State.
Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Stryker is expanding the communication business HQ in Flower Mound, Texas, to more than 200,000 square feet to accommodate some 200 new workers, the Dallas Business Journal reported. The move is part of the consolidation of Stryker Communications businesses in Charleston and Coppell, Texas, according to the newspaper.
Flower Mound agreed to a 10-year, 75% tax abatement to help Stryker expand the existing, 115,000-square-foot plant where it makes surgical lighting equipment.
“This is a very important company to the town with a lot of high-paying jobs and it was very important that we kept them here,” economic development director Mark Wood told the business journal. “We knew they were outgrowing their space and we wanted to make sure they could stay in Flower Mound.”
Stryker has also been active on the acquisition front lately, agreeing to spend a combined $4.06 billion to buy Sage Products and Physio-Control.
