Healthcare-focused software developer Modernizing Medicine Inc. said today it raised $38 million in Series E financing to fund its cloud-based Electronic Medical Assistant mobile device-based electronic medical record system.
The company’s EMA system is designed for specialty-specific EMRs, available on Apple‘s (NSDQ:AAPL) iPad or through the web from any connected device. The system is designed for the dermatology, opthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, urology and plastic surgery markets, Modernizing Medicine said.
The system creates population-level analysis based on de-identified aggregated information, and delivers the information to operating physicians, the company said.
“We greatly appreciate the vote of confidence in the future growth of Modernizing Medicine. While our dedication to the specialty-specific provider market is evidenced by sizable accomplishments – including four #1 EHR Black Book rankings for dermatology, orthopedics, otolaryngology and gastroenterology – there still remains an opportunity to improve efficiencies and outcomes for physicians and patients alike,” CEO Daniel Cane said in prepared remarks.
The round had 7 investors, according to an SEC filing. The round was joined by Pentland Group and funds affiliated with Summit Partners and Sands Capital Ventures, the Boca Raton, Fl.-based company said.
The round brings the total funds raised by the company up to approximately $87 million, the company said.
